Wow! I hope my mom gets disfellowshipped some day too. What were the charges, if you don't mind me asking. Will she start talking to you again, as you're both on the same level - so to speak? Great news!

of course to me this is like the greatest news ever and to her its the worst ever so i'm seriously having a hard time being sympathetic.

LOL under control
by Lady Lee ini grew up in a home where lol was dangerous.
i had three younger brothers and we all slept in the same room.
most mornings we were locked in the room until my mother or father woke up.. now 4 kids under the age of 8 in one room is a disaster in the making.

Dinosaurs! How were they explained (away)?
by DeusMauzzim indinosaurs are a bit of an embarrassment for the watchtower.
what did you hear about them?.
- were they a 'creative' experiment by god?.
-
Amber Rose
My cousin told me about her sister-in-law. They were in the museum looking at genuine dinosaur fossils and her sil mumbles, "Yeah, as if they ever existed." I had never heard of people not believing in dinosaurs, crazy! Aparently, she thinks that Satan put dinosaur bones in the ground to spread lies about God. (They're not JWs)
Kid: Hey Dad, let me tell you about my favorite dinosaur!
Dad: Dinosaurs! Don't be silly, there's no such thing! Now, let me tell you about Santa and the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy.

Ever have the shame of knockin on your schoolmates doors as a kid?
by xnmad inever wanted the floor to just swallow you up?then spent the rest of the wkend shittin it coz of whats gonna happen when you walk through the school doors on monday morning.think its affecting my parenting skills as an adult though coz am so aware of how my children feel about things, and the importance of never making them feel awkward or embarrassed.makes me wonder how much my parents thought of my feelings?i think they thought any bullying was a necessary form of torture, and would help me feel as christ did,i was probably sposed to enjoy it.

The worst part was my mom's disdain-like anger at me as we were walking away from the house because she knew that I was embarassed. (oh, are you embarassed, well, I'm sorry. Do you think Jesus was embarassed of his preaching. You're saving lives. Don't you know this is important?)

TO BARBARA ANDERSON: MY FOURTEEN YEAR OLD SON
by deborahs_song inhello barbara,.
i commend your effort to correct the watchtower society.
god knows they need it!

Why are the specific religous beliefs of your son's friends so important? Do you only allow him to be friends with people who don't think exactly like you? Forgive me if I am wrong, but that's what I gathered from your post.

Did You See Brothers Use Politics to Reach Out For M/S or Elder Positions?
by flipper inhello folks.
valid question i believe.
in the early 80's 1979 to 1985 i was a m/s and stepped down after having 3 kids bang, bang, bang in late 20's.

I always found this very irritating. There were some elders in the congregation that wanted Drew to be a MS. He seldom missed meetings (this was in the old days), gave interesting comments and on the rare occasion (because the school overseer had a vendetta against him but thats another story) that he was assigned a talk, the congregation loved to hear him. But Drew was never the type to kiss anyone's ass. Elders would ask me Does Drew want to be a MS? I'd say, Why don't you ask him? (They they would imply that we don't have a good marriage if I don't know the answer to that question.) Well, Drew has all the qualifications, and the only bible study in the congregation. We'd like to make him a MS, but he isn't doing any sucking up, what should we do? What was funny is at the same time there were several other men that were dying to be MS's. Cutting extra grass, putting in extra field service hours, wining and dining elders, they didn't make it either.

Do You Think The Watchtower will Crack Down On Faders?
by choosing life ini have been wondering for a while if the new koolaid version of the watchtower will try to crack down on faders in some way.
i read about the marking talk of nvrgbk's brother and i wonder if this is a sign of things to come.
i know the elders do not like to have loose ends out there that they can neither control or influence.. what do you think?

I agree with AK-Jeff. They can say that not coming to meetings is breaking god's command as stated in Heb 10:24. (Which they do say all the time) And that's pretty much how they got me (they added that to their YMCA case because they knew they were being rediculous)So, like someone else said, it just depends on how vindictive your elders want to be. Do you think there will be official orders from headquarters to start the crackdown?

What percentage of Witnesses are DFed at some point in their JW existence?
by slimboyfat in.

I'll guess 43%. More than one third, less than one half. Of course, I have no facts or statistics to back this up, just judging from the past 25 years of my former congregation.

Is Being A Jehovah's Witness a Mental Disorder?
by Amber Rose infrequently i have seen the subject of borderlind personallity disorder mentioned on this board.
many people here feel that friends or relatives display many of the charactaristics of the disorder.
people with histories of abuse seem to be drawn to this religion.

Thanks for your replies. I don't think I used really the right words, though. The JWs that I know may seem normal but then they all have the same charactaristic vague "weirdness" (for lack of a better word). Terry's response was the best descripton of that weirdness that I've ever heard. Thanks.
